UK borrowing drops 33% to £16bn in June as inflation-linked debt costs ease

The Office for National Statistics said UK public sector borrowing was £16 billion in June, £7.9 billion below the same month last year and slightly less than forecast. The 33% fall reflected lower inflation-linked debt interest costs and rising receipts, rather than structural spending cuts. Debt still stands at 94.9% of GDP.
