MP tells select committee FENZ delivers 'platitudes' not fire trucks as 35 appliances sit undelivered

Ōtaki MP Tim Costley told a select committee inquiry that Fire and Emergency New Zealand has delivered "platitudes" instead of fire trucks. Thirty Type 3 medium appliances remain off the road after years of delays, and five aerial ladder trucks are stalled after problems found last November. Two aerials are still being worked on in Brisbane. FENZ acknowledged its procurement processes had not been robust enough.
