Police baton-charge Gen Z protesters marching on India's parliament

Thousands gathered at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on 20 July 2026 and attempted to march on India's parliament, in the Cockroach Janta Party's largest protest yet. The Hindu reported a police lathi-charge; Delhi Police had refused permission for the march. The Gen Z-led movement, which began as satire, demands education reform and Prime Minister Modi's resignation.
