Hungary Lifts Prime Minister Magyar's Immunity Over Phone-Theft Allegation

Hungary's parliament voted 139-0 on Sept. 28 to lift Prime Minister Peter Magyar's immunity, allowing a theft investigation. Prosecutors allege he took a phone from a man filming him in a June 2024 Budapest nightclub incident and threw it into the Danube. Magyar requested the lift himself to clear his name. Fidesz boycotted the vote.
