Shopify Opens Checkout to Browser-Based AI Agents

Shopify announced WebMCP support for checkout on September 28, 2026, enabling AI agents running in the buyer's browser to complete purchases directly on merchant storefronts, including with Shop Pay. The capability is rolling out to all eligible merchants, extending prior WebMCP support for product search and cart building.
