PS5 Hacked: Full Linux Installation Now Possible on Older Firmware
Andy Nguyen has published PS5-Linux on GitHub, a complete exploit chain enabling persistent Linux installation on PlayStation 5 consoles running firmware versions 3.xx and 4.xx. The hack bypasses hypervisor, kernel, and bootloader security layers on the original PS5 model. Hardware access to the console's 8-core Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU becomes available outside Sony's ecosystem. The exploit affects early consoles that avoided automatic updates; newer PS5 revisions include additional security measures that currently block the attack.
