Burnham Government Eyes Universal Donation Cap as Crypto-Funded Reform UK Rises
A UK cap in force since March 2026 limits overseas donors to £100,000 yearly unless registered on the domestic electoral roll for 12 months. The Burnham government is now considering extending an annual cap to all donors, potentially curbing the large gifts fueling Reform UK — whose top two backers are crypto billionaires Ben Delo (£8m) and Christopher Harborne (£15m plus £5m to Farage personally), both UK-based abroad. A Reform source expressed confidence Delo's latest £4m would not need returning; Delo is said to be relocating to the UK.
