Jones's 'slave practices' claim contradicts Trade Minister McClay on forced labour
NZ First's Shane Jones has accused the Bay of Plenty kiwifruit industry of "medieval slave practices," directly contradicting coalition colleague and Trade Minister Todd McClay, who in July rejected US forced-labour claims, saying "It doesn't exist in New Zealand." Jones called for a review of Zespri's export monopoly laws. Zespri says it removes wrongdoers.
