
Ferry Capsizes Minutes After Departure from Northern Cyprus, Killing at Least Seven
A passenger ferry carrying roughly 267 people sank off Kyrenia, northern Cyprus, on 30 August 2026, just 15 minutes after departure for the Turkish port of Tasucu. At least seven died and 23 remain missing; 237 were rescued. Adverse weather was cited as the cause. Search operations continue.
