Turkish and Somali forces freed the Cameroon-flagged MV Latuf after ten days in pirate captivity off Puntland, killing 14 pirates and destroying four boats. The vessel was carrying Turkish weapons. The operation ran under a bilateral defence cooperation agreement — Ankara's deepest security footprint yet in the Horn of Africa, now tested by a piracy resurgence to its highest level since 2013.
