National promises student loan repayment rate cut from 12% to 10%

National is promising to cut the compulsory student loan repayment rate from 12 to 10 cents per dollar earned above $24,128, from April 2027, if re-elected. Finance spokesperson Nicola Willis said a graduate earning $75,000 would keep roughly $1,000 a year. The policy would not take effect until well into the next parliamentary term.
