Approximately 900 people remain missing across multiple hydropower projects in Nepal after flash floods along the Nepal-China border in August 2026, The New York Times reported. Nepali soldiers rescued around 100 workers from one flooded tunnel; the Prime Minister's Office said 350 were pulled out but over 100 remained trapped. The death toll continues to climb.
