Nearly 3,000 missing as Himalayan flash floods kill 669 in Nepal
Four days after Himalayan flash floods tore through Nepal and Tibet, nearly 3,000 people remain missing — about 2,426 in Nepal and 554 in Tibet's Gyirong County, including 540 foreign nationals. Nepal has recovered 669 bodies; some were carried downstream into India. A glacial collapse in Tibet sent floodwaters surging along the transboundary Bhote Koshi river into Nepal, where entire villages were erased.
