CFTC fines Trump's teleprompter operator $172,000 for insider betting on speech content

The CFTC ordered Gabriel Perez, who operated Trump's teleprompter since 2016, to surrender $107,539 in profits and pay a $65,000 penalty for betting on Kalshi prediction markets about what Trump would say in speeches from December 2025 to February 2026. The CFTC called it "misappropriation" of knowledge "in breach of his duty of trust." Perez was banned from trading for three years.
