Google auto-expands AI Overviews in search results, pushing blue links below the fold

Google is automatically expanding AI Overviews for some queries without requiring users to click "Show more," pushing the traditional link list below an AI summary and an "Ask anything" box. Spokesperson Jennifer Kutz said overviews "may dynamically expand for topics where Google's systems determine it is most useful." The auto-expand criteria are undisclosed and behavior is inconsistent across searches and browsers. Google cancels expansion if the user has already scrolled.
