Burnham Suspends Collective Responsibility on Assisted Dying Bill, Bars Ministers From Lobbying

Prime Minister Andy Burnham suspended collective responsibility on the assisted dying bill and warned ministers not to lobby for or against it ahead of its 11 September Commons second reading. Frontbenchers may vote, abstain, or advocate freely. The bill, tabled by Labour MP Lauren Edwards, would let terminally ill adults seek an assisted death subject to medical and panel approval.
