Himalayan Glacier Collapse Kills Over 390, 1,400 Still Missing Across Nepal and Tibet
A Himalayan glacier collapsed near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, 2026, triggering a flash flood across both regions. As of August 28, over 390 people are confirmed dead and more than 1,400 remain missing. Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology attributed the flood to a glacial lake outburst in the Lhende river basin, a transboundary river shared with China.
