Glacier Collapse in the Himalayas Kills Over 390, 1,400 Missing

A glacier — a massive sheet of ice — collapsed near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, 2026, sending a wall of water racing through both regions. By August 28, over 390 people were dead and more than 1,400 still missing. Nepal's weather agency said a meltwater lake had burst its ice barrier in a river shared with China.
