Luxon won't correct Parliament record on benefit suspensions, but apologises to affected beneficiaries

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon told Parliament he was confident no wrongful benefit suspensions had occurred. On Friday he declined to correct the record, saying his statement was true at the time. He apologised the same day to affected beneficiaries. MSD told Social Development Minister Louise Upston about the suspensions on 13 August — before her "no" in the House.
