Federal Judge Rules Pentagon's Blacklisting of Anthropic Unconstitutional
Judge Rita F. Lin (N.D. Cal.) ruled August 28 that the Pentagon's designation of Anthropic as a supply chain risk was unconstitutional First Amendment retaliation, arbitrary and capricious under the APA, and unlawful. The designation followed Anthropic's refusal to lift restrictions barring its AI from mass surveillance of Americans and lethal autonomous weapons. The case is Anthropic PBC v.
