Bluesky Adds Algorithmic Opt-Out for Users Who Don't Want to Go Viral

Bluesky launched an algorithmic opt-out on August 27, 2026. A toggle in Privacy and Security settings stops a user's public posts from appearing in the Discover feed, reducing visibility outside existing networks. Posts remain public. Bluesky said it built the feature because "not everyone using the site wants to go viral." The preference can take up to an hour to take effect.
