OSHA records show more than two dozen Waymo and Zoox test drivers suffered sprains, strains, and whiplash in 2024–2025 from hard braking and sudden swerves. These injuries fall outside the crash-reduction metrics both companies publish. NHTSA tracks crash performance; OSHA tracks workplace safety. Neither framework captures how autonomous braking affects occupants inside the vehicle during testing.
