West Point Fired Its Only Climate Scientist After He Refused to Drop Human-Caused Climate Change From Lessons, Lawsuit Says

West Point terminated Dr. Adam Kalkstein, its sole climate scientist, after he resisted a September 2025 order barring faculty from teaching that humans contribute to climate change. Kalkstein, who taught cadets for 17 years, likened the ban to "trying to teach the law without being able to even mention the constitution." His First Amendment lawsuit is now pending in federal court in New York.
