MSD wrongly suspended benefit payments after staff could not keep up with rushed law change
MSD confirmed some beneficiaries had payments wrongly suspended because staff could not process 52-week reconfirmation paperwork within statutory deadlines, despite people providing the requested information. MSD service delivery general manager Shannon Soughtton said some responses were not fully processed before their expiry date. All suspended payments have resumed and been backdated. MSD could not say how many people were affected.
