Australian Engineers Build Cyborg Cockroaches That Deliver Emergency Drug Injections in Disaster Zones

University of Queensland biorobotics engineers, with UNSW biomedical colleagues, fitted giant burrowing cockroaches with cameras and remotely triggered auto-injectors. The "paraborgs" achieved 95% injection success within 15 cm and 72% full navigation-and-injection success in proof-of-concept trials. They are designed for collapsed buildings or caves too dangerous for rescuers. Researchers envision swarm deployment within five to ten years.
