Cyborg Cockroaches Could Deliver Emergency Drugs in Disaster Zones

University of Queensland engineers, with UNSW colleagues, fitted giant burrowing cockroaches with cameras and remote-triggered auto-injectors. The "paraborgs" achieved 95% injection success within 15 cm and 72% full navigation-and-injection success in proof-of-concept trials — designed for collapsed buildings or caves too dangerous for rescuers. Researchers envision swarm deployment within five to ten years.
