UN calls Israel's threat to expel Gazans over children's kites "outrageous"
The UN human rights office on 26 August 2026 called "outrageous" Israel's threat to forcibly displace Gaza residents over children flying kites. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defence Minister Katz classified the kites as "an act of war" and warned of intensified military operations and evacuation of launch areas. The ceasefire took effect in October 2025; over 1,280 Palestinians have died since.
