Eby urges Carney to use F-35 purchase and coal shipments as trade-war leverage

After U.S. talks collapsed and 50 per cent tariffs hit $28 billion in Canadian goods, B.C. Premier David Eby is pressing Prime Minister Mark Carney to retaliate beyond matching duties. Eby wants Ottawa to revisit its $12-billion F-35 fighter jet purchase and speed up the phase-out of American thermal coal shipped through a Metro Vancouver port. Matching Canadian tariffs take effect Sept. 8.
