Spain Requests Emergency EU Funding for Ceuta Migrant Crisis
Spain has formally requested emergency EU funding for Ceuta, its North African enclave where a July 2026 surge of over 70,000 migrants left at least 90 dead. Thousands remain stranded, including unaccompanied children protected from deportation under Spanish law. The European Commission received the request and is assessing it "as a priority with a view to a swift decision."
