Instagram's First Draft Auto-Edits Reels, Selecting Which Moments Matter

Instagram has begun rolling out "First Draft" to its iPhone app. The feature analyzes clips longer than a minute, trims pauses, isolates key segments, and combines them into an editable reel. Instagram has not stated whether it uses AI. The tool goes beyond templated assembly by making editorial decisions about which moments to keep — a task once requiring a human editor or dedicated NLE.
