
Google and Apple Now Both Ship Peripheral-Cue Motion Sickness Mitigation at the OS Level
Google's Motion Assist is rolling out in Android 17, placing animated peripheral dots on-screen, synced via accelerometer and gyroscope to vehicle motion, to reduce screen-induced nausea. Pixel devices receive it first. Apple shipped the analogous Motion Cues in 2024. Both major mobile platforms now ship peripheral-cue mitigation as a standard OS feature — roughly two years from research to mainstream.
