Threads Tests Auto-Transcription for Audio Clips in Feed

Meta's Threads is testing automatic transcription of audio clips shared on the platform, generating readable text so users can follow along with sound off. Platform head Connor Hayes announced the test on August 24, 2026, calling it one of multiple podcast-sharing tools in development. Threads reached 500 million monthly active users in June. No general availability timeline has been set.
