UK to use Ukraine battlefield AI to guard defence sites after RAF breach

On 24 August 2026, the UK announced it will pilot AI trained on Ukrainian battlefield data to detect intruders at UK defence sites using buried fibre-optic sensors. The pilot follows a June 2026 breach at RAF Brize Norton, where Palestine Action activists on scooters defaced two military aircraft and escaped undetected. Three British firms are approved.
