Opportunity Party crosses 5% threshold, would hold balance of power

The Opportunity Party has polled above 5 percent for the first time in an RNZ-Reid Research poll, registering 5.3 percent and six seats. Neither the right bloc (59 seats) nor the left bloc (55 seats) could govern without its support. Leader Qiulae Wong said voters see the party as "a stable and safe coalition partner." National has ruled out working with the party, citing its land tax.
