Father reprimanded after leaving 7-year-old son alone on Mount Fuji trail

A 48-year-old Nagoya father was reprimanded by police after leaving his 7-year-old son alone above 2,000 metres on Mount Fuji's Fujinomiya trail in fog and rain, with only a soft drink and snack. Mountain hut staff found the boy and alerted police. The father, found three hours higher up, apologised for his "rash" decision. No charges were reported.
