
Apple Cuts Legacy Siri Engineers as It Shifts to LLM-Based Assistant
Apple has cut roughly 100 positions from Siri software teams, targeting engineers working on the legacy voice assistant, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported on August 21, 2026. Apple said the new Siri AI system, built on large language model architecture, requires different expertise than the old platform. The company is redirecting headcount toward its generative AI roadmap.
