Wyden Asks GAO for First-Ever Audit of Federal Hacking Tools Across FBI, DEA, ICE, Secret Service

Senator Ron Wyden has asked the GAO to audit how the FBI, DEA, ICE's Homeland Security Investigations, and the Secret Service use hacking tools and spyware. Federal hacking operations have run for over two decades with no public accounting — unlike wiretaps, which generate annual reports. DOJ and FBI have ignored congressional transparency requests across multiple administrations. Wyden wants an unclassified report with findings.
