OpenAI's ChatGPT Messages Plugin for Mac Requires Full Disk Access

OpenAI shipped a ChatGPT plugin on August 20 enabling Mac users to read, search, and send iMessage, SMS, and RCS conversations via ChatGPT. The opt-in plugin requires Full Disk Access, contact names, and automation permissions. Available to ChatGPT Work and Codex subscribers on Apple silicon Macs. Bloomberg reported the integration raises privacy and security concerns. Enterprise IT teams should review the permission profile before adoption.
