
Hong Kong Court Convicts Tiananmen Vigil Organizers of Subversion
On 21 August 2026, a Hong Kong court found former Hong Kong Alliance leaders Lee Cheuk-yan, 69, and Chow Hang-tung, 41, guilty of incitement to subversion for organizing annual Tiananmen Square memorial vigils in Victoria Park. They face up to ten years in prison; sentencing is pending. A third defendant, Albert Ho, 74, pleaded guilty in January 2026.
