
Government shelved managed retreat report and ignored adaptation inquiry, Labour says
At the ASAP|RUA climate adaptation conference at Te Papa on 20 August, Labour's Deborah Russell said the government set aside an expert managed retreat report commissioned under Labour and largely ignored a Finance and Expenditure committee inquiry into climate adaptation. Russell outlined a funding framework of beneficiary-pays, exacerbator-pays and public payments, with full policy to come from Chris Hipkins "in due course."
