The UK's CMA opened investigations on 18 August 2026 into Trainline, Virgin Atlantic and Red Driving School over drip pricing — advertising a low headline price then adding mandatory fees during booking. These are the first major cases under 2025 powers allowing the CMA to fine firms up to 10% of global turnover without court action. Trainline shares fell as much as 14%.
