Erin Patterson appeals murder convictions, citing jury housed with police and media

Erin Patterson began appealing her murder convictions before Victoria's Court of Appeal on 19 August 2026. Among seven grounds, her defence alleges a "fundamental irregularity": jurors were sequestered in the same hotel as police and media. Patterson was convicted in July 2025 of three murders and one attempted murder by death cap mushroom. The DPP is cross-appealing her 33-year non-parole sentence as "manifestly inadequate."
