Mechanical Fault Suspected in Sifnos Helicopter Crash That Killed British Honeymooners

Greek police are focusing on possible engine failure as the probable cause of a privately chartered Bell 206 helicopter crash on Sifnos on 17 August 2026 that killed British honeymooners Marie Ebert, 30, and Alexander Cromie, 31, and pilot Giorgos Raikos, 53. The aircraft exploded on impact moments before landing. CCTV under review shows it spiralling out of control; witnesses reported a "strange noise." Greece's transport ministry is coordinating the inquiry.
