Wakefield dog-bite death: murder charge downgraded to manslaughter
Lee Ellis, 55, was charged with manslaughter after a man died from a dog bite during an altercation on a Wakefield footpath. Police had initially arrested Ellis on suspicion of murder. Prosecutors formally charged the lesser offence, which does not require proving intent to kill. Ellis also faces a Dangerous Dogs Act charge. He was remanded to Leeds Magistrates Court.
