Labour warns Te Pāti Māori split-vote strategy could cost the Māori seats

Te Pāti Māori will campaign for electorate seats only, directing party votes to Labour and the Greens. Labour Māori campaign chair Willie Jackson warned the strategy risks a backlash that could lead to abolishing the Māori seats. Labour will not reciprocate. Co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer said the party was "utilising the power of the Māori roll" under MMP rules available to any party.
