Fractured Fan Blade Caused Ryanair Engine Failure That Blew Out Cabin Window, NTSB Finds
An NTSB preliminary report found that a fractured fan blade triggered an uncontained engine failure on Ryanair flight FR1879 from Thessaloniki to Memmingen on 10 July 2026. Debris shattered a cabin window; passenger Ljubisa Karović, 61, had his head and arm sucked out before others pulled him back. The pilots declared an emergency and landed safely in Thessaloniki.
