Penk quits Parliament after failed leadership challenge against Luxon

Former Cabinet minister Chris Penk will not seek re-election in November, according to a statement released about three hours after Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stripped him of his portfolios. Penk launched a leadership challenge against Luxon that triggered a confidence vote. Luxon removed the portfolios following the vote, his office said. Penk served nine years in Parliament.
