Meta's November 2024 takedown of 2 million scam accounts, coordinated with Microsoft, SpaceX, and the DOJ, went deeper than usual. Rather than simply removing accounts, the operation dismantled the underlying infrastructure—cloud hosting, domain registrations, and connectivity—that scammers depend on. This approach raises operating costs for fraudsters far more effectively than account-level enforcement alone.
