Blue Energy Plans Texas Nuclear Plant Built Like Ships, Not Buildings
MIT-backed Blue Energy, freshly funded with $380 million, is building a 1.5-gigawatt nuclear plant in Texas using factory methods instead of traditional on-site construction. The company says it can cut costs from $10,000 to $2,000 per kilowatt and compress a decade-long timeline to two years. Worth flagging: those numbers are targets, not yet proven at scale. If they hit them, nuclear could shift from long-term planning tool to fast-response power source for data centers and the grid.
