Microsoft Releases In-House AI Models for Reasoning and Coding

Microsoft released two AI models trained entirely in-house on June 2, 2026: MAI-Thinking-1 for reasoning and MAI-Code-1-Flash for coding. Both use only commercially licensed data and no shortcuts from other companies' models. The reasoning model scores 97% on advanced math benchmarks; the coding model matches or beats comparable competitors on speed.
